There are currently 12 Dead, 31 Injured from the Ft. Hood shooting today. Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old, eight-year veteran from Virginia and military psychiatrist carried out the shootings. Apparently he was about to deploy. No motive has been declared. Obama has condemned the shootings and vowed to find answers. This is the worst shooting at a U.S. military base in history.

Pray for the mourning families. For peace, healing, redemption, and justice.

UPDATE: A sister A29 church, Grace Bible in Killeen, had several doctors operating through the night on the victims and may be involved in some counseling on the base. Pray for profound compassion, skill, and wisdom.

In preparation for my message on Biblical Masculinity (part of the Truly Human series), I consulted a number of books and articles other than the Bible. In the end, some of the most helpful stuff appears to have been reflections from my own failures and successes. However, here are some of the popular, not academic, resources I consulted.
