Bush: Conservative Legacy?

July 2, 2007

An interesting article by Tanenhaus on the legacy of Bush’s conservativism.

Update:: See this sympathetic article in the Washington Post on Bush. As Justin reminds us, we should all pray for our leaders, especially our president.

    Hey,

Bush is a CONSERVATIVE? He has championed the LARGEST EXPANSION of government in the history ANY GOVERNMENT of the modern era.

Good point, Chris. The post is a question, thanks for providing your perspective.

    Any others out there?

by conservative standards, bush is necessarily expanding the govt. no conservative would shrink govt influence in times of terrorism and war. also, size of govt is no metric to measure the success of a conservative policy base. bush’s successes include john roberts’s appointment to the SCOTUS and perhaps bernanke’s appointment to the federal reserve chair. those decisions may outlast any govt expansion he’s caused. i think there’s a national review article defending bush’s conservatism, and i know it’s popular for conservative voters to deny bush and score points with liberal friends, but honestly, the guy is more not liberal than he is not conservative.
