November 5, 2007

The second work in Baker’s Cultural Exegesis series, Reframing Theology and Film deepens our theological engagement with film, while also widening our cinematic experience.

The first chapter can be read online.

This looks interesting. I’ll have to pick it up. I was involved with the Act One group in CA, of which Craig Detweiler and some of the others are affiliated. You might be interested in a project I’ve been working on concerning film and theology at http://www.modernparable.com. We shot six films on the parables using different directorial styles in an attempt to merge cinema and theology.

I enjoyed the trailers and will keep them in mind for teaching aids. I’d be interested to see how the theological points of the parables are played out…could be very powerful.

    Looks like great work…
