RENEW Resources

January 4, 2010

On Sunday we launched a new vision series called RENEW the CITY. We looked back on evidences of God’s goodness in 2009, and looked forward in hope for more goodness in 2010. Here are a few resources related to the Austin City Life RENEW vision for 2010:

  • Mission for Moms: Check out Little Helping Hands an organization that hooks parents and their children up with volunteering opportunities around the city.
  • Community Spotlight from Nixonsstory of gospel community in action from our very own Nixon family!
  • The Art of Patrick Watson fascinating article on the music of Patrick Watson, as reviewed by Miranda

Looks really good! A much needed endeavor for all cities everywhere. I’m about 1/4 of the way thru Lovelace’s ‘Dynamics of Spiritual Life: An Evangelical Theology of Renewal.’ Hopin’ to finish it before the new semester starts up next week.

Grace & Peace to you and Austin City Life!

Thanks, JT. Yes, Lovelace is pretty amazing. I got to know him in seminary, took Dynamics & Edwards from him. His course/book was incredibly formative for my thinking, discipleship, and ministry. Hope it’s as great a blessing for you!

Thanks, Jonathan. Just finished the Dynamics book yesterday. Really good! I’m looking forward to reviewing it regularly in order to re-think & re-form my own views on ‘everyday church’ and discipleship. How would you compare this book to his Renewal as a Way of Life? Is it less on history, and more on practice?

It’s definitely a re-reader. You nailed the difference between the two, as I remember them. Plus, Renewal is more devotional.
